ESTECO A&D Technology Days Agenda and Keynote announced

18 January 2023

We are pleased to announce the fourth edition of the ESTECO A&D Technology Days, which will be held on March 14-15, 2023, at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, AZ. The event will focus on digital engineering capability in the aerospace & defense industry, and in particular multidisciplinary design analysis & optimization (MDAO) and simulation process data management (SPDM).

“Develop something better, and do it faster and cheaper”. Pressure from governments and society are causing the aerospace and defense industry to re-think their traditional siloed waterfall based development methods, which frequently lead to program delays, cost overruns and sub-optimal designs. Real time collaborative digital engineering is needed to enable change, but outdated desktop clients by default cannot support such a cultural shift.
VOLTA, our server-based digital engineering framework for MDAO and SPDM, is different. It allows engineers, managers, suppliers and customers to truly collaborate on the next gen design, with everyone having access to the same data at the same time, not constrained by geographic boundaries. You can integrate and automate any simulation process, conduct design of experiments and trade studies, find the optimal pareto design and visualize all your data on a modern web dashboard. Jobs can be distributed leveraging any compute hardware, whether on-prem or in the cloud.
VOLTA is an authoritative source of truth for all your simulation data where workflows, data and files can be tracked, version controlled and shared between all stakeholders. Through its API VOLTA can be connected to other enterprise systems.

AGENDA

On March 14th, Raytheon Missiles & Defense will present how VOLTA SPDM is applied to efficient mission engineering. Lockheed Martin Space will present IT aspects of VOLTA, focusing on the transition from a monolithic to containerized architecture.
ESTECO experts will showcase several multidisciplinary design projects, and we will discuss how VOLTA can be used to scale up and democratize MDAO capabilities across the enterprise. Our leadership will present our vision, strategy and roadmap.
The day will start with a very special guest speaker however. Today we can all witness that peace, freedom and democracy are not a guarantee, just as it was 85 years ago. We are honored to have Colonel (ret.) Richard B. Bushong reflect on his experiences as a WW2 B-17 pilot. Richard flew 28 missions in ETO as part of the 390th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. He will talk about what tools were available to him to liberate Europe, and we will show what tools we are developing to help protect our safety and security in the future. We are also very excited to celebrate his 100th birthday!

On March 15th, you can experience VOLTA first hand and join our workshop to learn how enterprise collaboration on MDAO projects is completely reimagined. The workshop will be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Participants are required to bring their own laptop.

The event is free and in-person only. We hope to see you there!
